Well, the Wi/Ht forum is officially (to me, and some other people) a post count +1 Spammy Shit hole. Theres new people, WHICH I DON'T mind, however, what annoys me is that 50% of these are just alts, what are THEY FOR? you want to ask yourself- well, I answer, the primary use of them is for: "TO MAKE ABUSIVE REVIEWS SO THEY CAN FLAG THEM FOR WHISTLE POINTS AND LOOK LIKE A BLOODY HERO". Isn't this sad? People are doing this for what? a 20 point lead or so in whistle points? well wow! your bloody amazing aren't you?

And the MAJORITY (there are some sensible new people) of these IDIOTS go on to the other help threads and put USELESS things. Example:

Question: Where can I find this preloader?
Answer is given, but it is a self made one the person wants, and some IDIOT comes along and says "I want that one too", HOW IS THIS HELPFUL, IF YOU WANT IT, WAIT, WHAT DOES THAT DO? and this person tha tsays this is probably someone who has no flash ability, doesn't even know what flash is and; signed up 10 minutes ago. How helpful is this? very...

The rage's topic is another place full of shit. Open the page before last, then open the page say, 400, do you notice a difference? Well, YES, because, in page 400, there wasn't some RETARD saying:

that is so helpful, and, thats how it gets 20+ pages in the space of 10 hours.

Theres also tonnes of idea topics, and the stupid, not working idea thats been rejected more times then George Bush has declared war on Iran. And, they always are 'revamped' THE IDEA IS A FAIL- AN EPIC FAIL AN ABSOLUTE DISASTER, FACE IT, THERE WILL BE NOT FUCKING EDIT BUTTON ON THE BBS, and, 2 days later, it comes on again... and again and again.

Theres also one certain user; who, whenever, there is a topic on a topic, he puts a link to his shitty newspost.... These users aren't JUST new users- there are some who have over 1,500 posts. It really surprises me.

Please, put your views and don't just put "I agree". Also, if you disagree, don't just put "Cheekyvincent, your a bloody asshole" though it is true, you should just give a reason.

Causes
Some may be wondering, why might some idiot want to do this shit? I think there could be many reasons, including: attention, attention, attention, attention and attention. But, the main reason could be:

The older regs seem to generally regard the golden age of wi/ht as from 03 to around early 05. After that, they say the forum has mostly gone downhill.

I joined in April of 05, right after this "golden age", but I regard my best times in wi/ht has from then to around the end of 06.

And then that leads to your sign up date, and now YOU seem to think the forum has gone downhill towards the end of 07. In the end, the cycle will continue, and you'll grow to hate what you used to enjoy. FUN.

I must admit, I didn't know much about the past, but, we would both agree on one thing,, the wi/ht forum IS going downhill. i started becoming active in the wi/ht in march, but i guess i actually did something useful in the start of may. back then, it was quite good. Not much spam, SENSIBLE questions, readers of the FAQ that asked stuff which HADN't been answered by the FAQ, ETC. I regarded the best times just after I joined, BUT i never knew because i missed out the action i guess. </block of text>

As you and absent said, wi/ht is going downhill like a snowball. I began posting there in the beggining of this year. I was a newbie, but you kinda guided me, telling me not to post lots of times with only one link. Today, I try to post as more links as I can find.

Another thing: double answers. When a question thread already has an answer, some guys post the same answer again, which is completely useless.

the rage's topic, very recently, before the shit started when it was stale, i actually made a sig "Get a garbage whistle here or get cookie" or something like that. That was to show just how bad it was. Now, do one small mistake, the next thing you know, you have 200 PMs saying "FUCK YOU YOU WERE THE ACCIDENT THAT MADE ME GET MY GARBAGE", your news post has 200 more posts, your email has 1000 more emails and, the topic has grown bigger because they're all saying your an asshole.

New paragraph. I've almost lost all hope in helping those idiots, even if you post as many links as the post holds, they'll still say "WE WANT MORE, WE WANT MORE" etc. And, the next thing that happens, PETITION, PETITION, PETITION THE MORE WE GET, THE MORE WADEFULP CARES! you use to spam a little, but; in a GOOD way, i sort of presumed whenever you found a link, it had some POSITIVE effects. whearas, he/she/it/they/ the organisation just creates a commentary, for EVERY post. I could almost definitely say that they are ALTS, who do it so they can think they are popular. They post a statement, alt comes along, says "YEH, U IS WELL KOOLZ INNIT!", they read it, the hormones come along and the flow continues.

They always WILL ask more, they can't find them themselves, they will ALWAYS ask for more. I've had angry PMs, (which I've deleted) asking for more. How pointless is that?

Due to popular demand, I plan on changing it back. This is in effect from NOW. (asap). And the classic n00bing, it always happens, just not on such a massive scale.

I sort of agree, but the Wi/Ht forrum is also a place (though rarely) where things are discussed, such as stats, levels and ideas. The Rage topic is going far downhill now, I really do appreciate the fact that Sir-Nuts can still be helping. The rage topic, people can officially NO LONGER take any criticism. Example:

In my experience, there have always been a certain amount of idiots on the Wi/Ht who can't find the FAQ for themselves, or answer questions without really knowing what the hell they're talking about. It's only recently that we seem to have gotten a shitload of them coming in all at once. It seems to have calmed down now, though, except for in Rage's thread.

I noticed you used one of Greth-of-Destruction's posts as an example, when he said that the link I provided had been 'used already'. It's stuff like that which annoys me, especially when the aforementioned user has posted no links himself in that thread, which is essentially all it's there for. I don't really want to go back through 2-3 pages of idle conversation in Rage's thread to check that my link hasn't already been posted, nor should I have to. And when a link DOES get posted more than once, there's absolutely no need to point it out - people can see for themselves when they click it.

As for the Wi/Ht becoming a second General forum - I don't think it's gotten that bad, nor will it ever (hopefully) get that bad. You say that it's been overrun by idiots, but there are still a fair few sensible, experienced users holding the fort, such as Coop83, Bahamut, BlueHippo, absent... etc. These guys really hold the place together, and hopefully will continue to do so for a long time to come.

The idiots that ask the idiotic questions don't seem to annoy me, since, once someone says "read the FAQ" they never seem to come back. The so call shitload, I don't think its a shitload, I thinks its more likely to be a 10 year old who found out what an "alt" is. They all seem to be linked to the "L7C" (a.k.a. Lucky 7 crew). And there still is some bullshit, but not as much (hopefully due to a ban).

Greth-of-Destruction is a great example. 90 % up of his posts are in the rage topic, and (i'm too lazy to use my literacy skills) but for all those posts, there shouldn't be more then 15 links, and in those 15 links, 10 are to sign his petition. How helpful indeed. He's a bit like a critic, only he critises people who he hates. And, has to provide a continuos (spelling) commentary for the thread. I could easily compare these people to, a person living on benefits, doesn't help, takes resources AND criticises. How can YOU criticise and complain if you don't help? He posts nothing helpful...

I think the wi/ht is one third of getting there, if there was more people, the admins may as well rename it "general forum". I do admit, there are quite a few sensible people, MOST regulars as you have mentioned, I congratulate you for still having the MOTIVATION and COURAGE to still post links in the rage topic.

And speaking of the Level Up Lounge, that may be a better thread to complain about being full of +1 Post Count spam. At least Rage's has the collateral effect of being helpful to Newgrounds by bringing attention to abusive reviews and sometimes to stolen or unsuitable submissions. I will admit to going there once, for a single post about getting my Deity whistle (courtesy of the same Rage's topic you so malign), so perhaps I myself am again guilty, and if the thread were to be locked (though it is now too old for any but NG staff to lock it, and most of them have much better things to do), I would accept the ban for posting in a spam thread.

Now I just have to mention WTF Kitty Krew, which you probably hate as much as you hate Rage's, or more. What does DaVeB0T's sig call it? A "Clock Crew circle jerk"? The thread of my greatest outrageousness, and probably the single thread that I've posted in most. I've posted in that one so much that if some mod were to delete it as a spam thread, I'd be permabanned. But in all truth, it's just a thread that clears up uncertainties we new users have about the histories of different crews, a subject that I find interesting (and evidently some of the other posters in that thread, such as Gustavos and OkamiZaku, agree with me) and also a forum for us to voice our opinions on spam in the Portal, and our dissatisfaction that protect-point statwhores pass so much of it.

I get why you might consider it a spam thread though, since it's a thread that is filled with posts that do not ask or answer questions, which is the specific goal of Wi/Ht. What I do not get is why you would show up there and flame us for caring about the quality of Flash submissions in the Portal, and for worrying that too much spam is protected by statwhores who have a 4:1 Save-to-Blam ratio. And if you're going to ask why we even go under judgment if we feel that way, well, we feel that we need to contribute to the site in some way, and for people like me who don't have the money to afford Flash, blamming and protecting are the only ways to do that other than flagging abusive reviews (which we do a lot of). And perhaps we like the adventure of not knowing what we're going to get. The collections and series are static, rarely if ever changing (and when it does only on scales of months, except for new categories which change in a matter of days), but the 50 Most Recent, the Under Judgment flash, that experiences great changes not only from day to day, but from hour to hour.

And I agree, the same topics are seen every two weeks or so in Wi/Ht. I can't even imagine what it must be like to see those same topics every few weeks for a year or so as you have, much less for two, three years like absent's been seeing it. I at least used the FAQ and search bar before asking a question there, which is probably why I have never needed to start a topic there, and can now at least pass as a normal-intelligence new user (except for my anti-spam stance), rather than a spammer. Now, if a new user wants to ask about something that's not in the FAQ... But seriously, what isn't covered in the FAQ? Because almost all of it has been covered in Wi/Ht before.
